Brother Sends Sisters Money for Their Father – But Soon the Truth Comes Out and Everything Changes

John still couldnt quite get used to his new surroundings. What an unpredictable life it had become. Once the director of a large factory, father of three, he shuddered at the thought of ending up in a care home.

His life had once been bright and full of excitementa good job with a solid wage, a spacious flat, a car, a loving wife and three wonderful children. John and his wife had raised a fine son and two lovely daughters, respected and cherished by everyone around them.

Those days were prosperous. Now, as the years rolled by, John sometimes wondered if something had been missing in the way they brought up their children. He and his wife had always tried their best to raise them well. Sadly, she passed away ten years ago, and eventually, John found himself increasingly unnecessary to his children. His son, Adam, moved abroad a decade ago for work in Spain, got married there, landed a good position, and made the journey home only once a year to visit his father and sisters. In recent years, even those visits had become less frequent.

His daughters lived nearby, but they were always preoccupiedeach wrapped up in her own family, her own worries and daily routine. John gazed out the window gloomily, watching the snow fall. It was the 30th of December and people rushed by outside, busy preparing for New Years celebrations, hurrying home. He closed his eyes and smiled, remembering how lively the holidays once were with his wife at the heart of it all, always determined to make their family gatherings special. Relatives would always turn up. Tomorrow was also his birthday.

A lonely birthday, with no one likely to remember. Nobody needed him anymore. The day passed with brooding thoughts, heavy and unwelcome. The next morning, relatives of the care home residents started arriving. Some took their loved ones home to celebrate together, others brought hampers filled with festive treats.

Then, there came a knock at Johns door. Come in! he muttered, surprised. Happy New Year! And happy birthday! came a warm, familiar voice. Instantly, John grinned. His son Adam hugged him tightly. He couldnt recall how many years had passed since theyd last met. What a handsome mantruly striking.

Adam, is it really you? Am I dreaming? John asked in disbelief, so pleased he could barely put the words together.

Yes, Dad, of course its me. I arrived yesterdayI wanted to surprise you. Why didnt you tell me your sisters sent you here? Ive been sending them money every month, good British pounds for you, but they never said a word. I had no idea you were living here.

Pack your things, Dad, quickly! Ive got tickets. Were catching the train tonight. To start, well all stay at my wifes parents place while we sort everything out properly. Youll be flying out to Spain with us soon, and well live together there now.

To Spain, son? Im not as young as I waswhat Spain, what another country? John was genuinely taken aback.

Dont worry, my wifes wonderful. She knows everything already and cant wait to meet you. Youll get to meet your granddaughter too!

Adam, I just cant believe it. Its so unexpected, he said, still doubting his luck.

Im not leaving you here even one more hour. You dont deserve to end up like this, Dad. Gather your things and come with me.

What a good son John raised! Such a kind soul, said those who witnessed the scene, and Adam took his father off with him to Spain. The old man, you might say, began his second youthsurrounded by family and loving people.

Wise folks say: Only in our old age do we truly see the sort of children weve raised.
