Husband Ruins Mother and Newborn Son’s Hospital Discharge, Leaving Family Waiting and House in Chaos

My sister recently gave birth to a little boy. We went round to my sisters house to see her and her new baby. Her husband was in high spirits you could tell he was celebrating the birth. His mate was busy making sandwiches, while a dreadful smell hung about the kitchen.

I did my best to tidy up a bit and cook something fresh. Meanwhile, hed invited all of his relatives over for dinner. But where exactly? In that untidy kitchen, serving sandwiches? My own husband was busy blowing up balloons, glancing over at me anxiously now and again. We ended up leaving the house two hours later. Everyone drove their own cars. My sisters husband mentioned hed stop off at a florist on the way.

Around the maternity hospital, all the family members were waiting, except for the babys father. My sister didnt come outside because her husband had promised to bring the things she needed for discharge. We waited for about an hour, but he still didnt show up.

Yesterday evening, my sister was due to be discharged from hospital. My husband and I went to collect her, but when we arrived, her husband had already left with the baby. We waited a while, but he never came back, so eventually we gave up and headed off.

Later we found out hed forgotten his wifes things at the hospital, forgot the flowers hed bought for her, and then got stuck in traffic on top of it all. Because of him, my sister was discharged two hours later than she was supposed to be. He was terribly persistent and wouldnt take no for an answer when we tried to leave without going into their house. It really seemed as if he didnt put his wifes well-being first at all.

All our relatives will be here until late tonight, he told us.

As soon as I arrived, my sister went straight to her bedroom, shut the door and fell asleep. The next morning, she woke up and immediately set about tidying up. Her husband couldnt manage to lift his head from the pillow his hangover was that bad.

I cant imagine how Id feel if I were welcomed home like that. My sisters husband is a decent chap, but this time he didnt even bother to ask if she wanted any sort of celebration. Unbelievable selfish, really.
