– Wheres your mum? She told me to wait here for her, but she hasnt come back yet.
The train station was bustling with people. Some were boarding the train, while others were waiting for its arrival. A small girl gazed at the passengers, quietly whispering, Mummy, where are you?
A man approached the girl, handed her a chocolate bar, and asked,
Whose little one are you?
Mummys
Do you have a name?
Yes! Daisy.
And where is your mum?
She told me to wait for her here, but she hasnt come back yet.
There was a small slip of paper peeking out of Daisys coat pocket. The man gently pulled it out and read: If you are reading this, you must be a kind soul. My daughter’s name is Daisy. She was born on 22nd June 2002. I am leaving my child voluntarily. You may adopt her or take her to an orphanage. Please forgive me. Life can turn out in unexpected ways.
The man took off his flat cap and scratched the back of his head. Together, they made their way to the nearest police station.
For sixteen years, Daisy has lived on her own. Shes studying at university and working part-time at a local café just to make ends meet. No one ever adopted her she spent her entire childhood in a care home. Throughout those years, the poor girl always dreamt of finding her mother.
She never blamed her, though. She just wanted to look her in the eye. One day, her friend Emily suggested she get in touch with people who specialise in reuniting families even mentioning some TV shows that help with such searches. At first, Daisy thought the idea was daft, but soon realised she had nothing left to lose.
All she could do then was wait. And, almost unbelievably, six months later, she got a call inviting her for a photo session. Daisy jumped for joy, hoping the programmes team had managed to find her mum.
A few months after, Daisy travelled to London, her best friend Emily by her side.
For Daisy, the whole TV recording flew by in a blur she waited nervously for the verdict, wondering who had responded to her plea. Finally, the host spoke:
Lets welcome Samuel to the stage.
A 10-year-old boy walked out, claiming to be her brother. He explained that his mother had told him he once had a younger sister, Daisy, but shed been left at a childrens home.
And who have you come with today? asked the presenter.
My gran. My mum passed away last year.
His grandmother entered the studio, enveloped Daisy in a warm embrace, and whispered:
Forgive me, my dear child. Ill never leave you again!
Ive realised now that sometimes, even after all these years and disappointments, hope remains a powerful thing. You never know when a closed door may open, and you find a family waiting on the other side.
