Dad Walks Out After Discovering Mum’s Affair With a Work Colleague: A Shocking Family Scandal Erupts at Home

Dad left after he discovered Mum was having an affair with a colleague. The row that broke out at home was worse than anything Id ever seen.
Dad walked out after finding out about Mums affair with someone from her office. All hell broke loose in our house.
What do you expect me to do? Im always lonely! Youre never here, working all hours God sends. Im a woman, I need some attention!
And what will you say if I stick your darling Russell behind bars? I could easily plant something on him and hed be off to prison. How does that sound? Dad asked, his voice cold as ice.
He was a police inspector.
You wouldnt dare! Youve ruined everything!
Mum collapsed onto the sofa and burst into tears. Dad gathered up his few belongings and headed for the door. I was standing in the hallway, ready to throw myself on the floor to stop him from leaving. What a ridiculous idea! Wed always been a close, happy family. Mum and Dad never used to fight they told the same jokes and laughed together. Yes, Dad was tired out from work most of the time and just wanted to sleep when he got in, but whenever we were all together, things felt right. Why did Mum have to wreck it? Would Dad ever forgive her?
David, please dont go Mum begged, wiping her tears away. Forgive me! Please, dont leave. Oliver, why are you standing there listening to all this? Family drama
But I didnt move. I just stood in his way. At twelve, I thought I could hold back the end of everything Id known as a happy family.
Ollie, move aside. Dads voice was low and stern.
He only spoke this way at work, never at home.
Dont go! I whispered.
Let me past!
Still the same cold voice.
Dad… what about me?
He pushed me aside like I was a piece of furniture and walked out of the house. He rushed off so fast I thought he was trying not to do something mad. Not just to keep from hitting Mum, but because he had his police gun on him. His eyes blazed with fury. Looking back, I realise he did the right thing leaving that day. That was the moment he became, to me, the man who shoved his own son out of the way like a chair. And Mum she became the one whod dragged this nightmare into our lives.
Russell, of course, turned out to be a scumbag and dumped Mum right after Dad. She was left on her own, in a miserable situation. Her husband gone, her lover vanished, and her son blaming her for the end of our family. As for me
I started sneaking out late at night and fell in with a bad crowd. It began with small things, then grew bolder. Eventually we got caught robbing a posh kid not the whole lot, but enough. He had a bodyguard and they caught both me and Kyle. Dad, whod by then been promoted to head of the Detective Branch, found out I was being held at the station. Our surname, Magpie, was rare, and my patronymic wasnt Smith, but Davidson. Someone recognised my father and called him.
Come outside. he said, blunt as ever.
Sod off! I spat through gritted teeth.
He pulled me out of the cell.
But what about Kyle? I shouted, struggling.
He shoved me into an interview room and gave me two solid slaps. With my face bloody and streaked with tears, I hated him more with every moment.
How old are you?
What? I didnt get it.
How old are you? Fifteen?
It sounded completely mad.
Congratulations! You dont even know your own sons age!
Because youre not really mine! he roared. I married Claire when she was pregnant. Thought shed be a decent wife. But she turned out and then he used a curse word.
So, who is my father, then? I asked, dazed.
He handed me a tissue and a bottle of water. As I wiped myself down, David sat in front of me and said:
Im sorry I hit you. Youve disappointed me badly. You think I dont have my own problems?
Then go deal with them. I muttered.
Ollie On paper, youre my son. And I pay child support, no slacking. But if you go on like this Im done. Let the police lock you up, what do I care?
What now?
What now?
Now am I going to prison?
He shook his head.
What about Kyle?
Listen, Kyles got his own father. Theyve got money, theyll manage. You think about your own life. Whats the fascination with jail, anyway? Do you think its paradise? Its hell! Especially in the young offenders place its hell squared.
I didnt want prison. But my life was heavy with pain especially seeing Mum. So I did whatever I could to distract myself. I told David as much.
So, no ones going to choose for you, son. Either you start living properly sort yourself out and get a future or you keep going down the wrong path, which never ends well. You dont want prison? Change your ways. Youre free to go.
I made for the door, but his voice stopped me:
And stop blaming your mother. With divorce, it takes two, always. What I said about her I was angry. Forget it.
David Dad, you two loved each other! Couldnt you get back together? I asked, though I knew it was pointless.
Forget it too, son.
My mates from the gang didnt want to let me go. I had a couple more scraps, walked around with bruises for a while. But I managed to break free. Thanks to Dad, Kyle got a suspended sentence and was soon back to his usual business. I made my decision.
I forgave Mum. I tried my damnedest. I wanted to find out who my real father was, but I never asked. There was no time for all that I had too many classes to catch up on, and making up all my missed work swallowed up my time. I graduated from police college and now, standing in my fathers office, feeling the proud look in his eyes, I understood that, after all that, life had brought us back together.
