Lucy grew up in a big family, and as the second oldest sister, she was always the one responsible for watching over her younger siblings, walking them to nursery, and helping her older sister with the cooking. So, she was no stranger to sleepless nights. When Lucy found herself pregnant in her first year of sixth form, she didnt hesitateshe decided to have an abortion. Something went wrong with the procedure, though, and later doctors told her she couldnt have children. Honestly, Lucy felt relieved.
She absolutely didnt want kids, and she made sure her future husband knew right from the start. He pretended to understand, said he didnt want children either, but when he realised Lucy was infertile, he started bringing up adoption. Lucy tolerated it for ages, until he completely wound her up and she lost her temper. She told him, quite plainly, that if by some miracle they ended up with a child, shed leave. She really meant itshe just wasnt interested in being anyones mum.
They carried on together, just the two of them, but her husband kept dropping hints, pushing her, and two years later he turned up at their flat with a little boy from the orphanage. Lucy was absolutely furious, and her husband seemed to think she was blushing with excitement.
I told you, she muttered through gritted teeth, staring at him. I warned you. I am not going to be a mother to anyone. Take that child, pack your things, and leave this flat. Raise whoever you want, wherever you want, with whoever you want, but dont let me see you again!
She told him that they could have been happy without children, everything would have been just fine for both of them, especially him, but hed made his choice. Now, he could chase whatever he thought was right, as long as he did it far away from Lucy.
