In order to devote myself fully to the girls, I had to give up my job. Back then, my daughters were just three and two years old.
My husband and I were struggling financially, and it took a toll on our lives. We were barely scraping by and simply couldnt afford the fees for a good school. We werent keen on sending them to the local state school, either.
We were left with no other option but to educate them at home. It was a tough choice to make.
After spending hours reading blogs about homeschooling, my husband and I decided to take it into our own hands, despite only having a modest grasp of teaching ourselves.
We transformed the dining room into a makeshift classroom, decorating it with plenty of educational and fun posters.
A teacher in the family was able to pass on a curriculum for each lesson, which helped immensely. I put together a daily schedule, making sure it included time for chats with me, play sessions and proper learning periods.
Thats how our home-based schooling journey began.
It was difficultteaching was hard, and facing critics of homeschooling was just as challenging. Yet, I managed to turn the situation to our advantage and developed my own opinion about it all.
After three months, we saw positive results. It was remarkable to see my daughters accomplish things I had never even imagined.
That was when I truly witnessed the benefits of homeschoolingit had a profound impact on their spiritual and social growth.
I carried on for more than five years. Now, my girls are honest, brave, confident and clever.
Whenever we attend public events, people often ask, Which school do they go to?
Through everything Ive experienced and learned with my daughters, Ive grown passionate about homeschooling.
I believe this movement will lead to many positive changes.
Looking back, I can honestly say that the sacrifices I made for my children gave me a sense of purpose.
If we hadnt faced this challenge, I wouldnt have discovered these strengths within myself. It allowed both me and my girls to become better people.
Theres an old saying: Challenges dont break us, they make us.And now, as I watch my daughters chase after their dreams with laughter in their eyes, I realize that true education isn’t found only in textbooks or classroomsits etched in the heart, forged in resilience, and fueled by love. Our journey was never perfect, but it was ours, and every challenge shaped us into a family that believes in one another. Sometimes, the most uncertain path leads to the brightest destination. I wouldnt trade those years for anything, because, together, we learned the most important lesson of all: the strength of family can turn any hardship into hope.
