I Pulled a Few Clever Tricks to Make My Husband Appreciate Me—I Even Lied That I Was Leaving Him for Another Man

So, you wont believe thisI bumped into my old classmate, Mark, by sheer accident at the local farmers market. I was grabbing some veg for dinner, feeling absolutely knackered after running around all morning. Even on my day off, I cant catch a break. My husband, Dave, is hopelessjust lounges around the house, and its left to me to do all the shopping, cleaning, cooking, and help our daughter with the grandkids. Honestly, its exhausting doing everything on my own.

Anyway, I spotted Mark at the stalls. I knew we both still lived in the same neighbourhood, but somehow wed never crossed paths until now. We got talkinghe was telling me about his work and how lonely his life was, while I complained about Dave being so lazy. Mark even joked, Id give anything to have a wife like you. Ive never been lucky in lovenever married. We didnt just reminisce about the old days; we chatted about possible trips to our summer cottages, all the DIY work were doing, and I mentioned Dave again. Mark suddenly said, Why dont we teach him a lesson? Move in with me for a bit. Lets tell everyone weve fallen for each other and see how long it takes before your husband is begging you to come back.

At first, I thought the idea was daftthe neighbours would gossip for sure. But when I got back home and had another row with Dave, I immediately messaged Mark and said I was in.

The next morning, while Dave was still asleep, I packed some things, left a note with a dramatic confession about my lover, and walked out the door. Dave didnt react straight awaynot even a phone call. While the house gradually fell apart without my cleaning and the fridge emptied out, he barely noticed. But once the new bills started rolling in, he suddenly realised how tricky life is on his own and finally began ringing me.

Meanwhile, living with Mark was actually lovely. He takes care of himself, never lets me touch the washing up, makes breakfast for us both, and at weekends wed head to his cottage together. I found myself genuinely happystarted a little veg patch out there, too.

Dave ended up phoning, begging me to come back, promising hed forgive anythinghe even said he wouldnt mind if I still saw Mark, so long as we lived together again and I got back to my duties. Turns out, he didnt appreciate me more, just couldnt cope by himself. Honestly, I dont want to go back now. I really like Markhes a good bloke, living with him is a treat. He hasnt kicked me out or even mentioned Dave; I reckon hes happy were together, too.

So, what do you think I should do? Should I file for divorce and try to start something real with Mark? Part of me is tempted to just begin a new chapter, but I worry Mark might only see me as his old childhood mate, not as a woman. If I go for it and he turns me down, Ill have to go crawling back to Dave. Its a tough one, isnt it?
